The Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) has ordered series deliveries of a new-generation encrypting modem from Sectra. The crypto-modem is designed to operate in a tactical military environment and will be used to protect the Swedish Defense Forces' data communications in different telecommunications networks. The order value amounts to SEK 12.7 Million.
"In recent years, Sectra has built up a new expertise in the development of encryption products designed for tactical military environments. The order for the crypto-modem is the first volume order for a product that will operate in the field, with high demands, for example, on splash proofing and shock resistance," says Tommy Waszkiewicz, President of Sectra Communications AB.
The new-generation crypto-modem is developed by Sectra under contract to FMV. One of the product's major advantages is its flexibility, with support for low and high data speeds, which facilitates connection to the Defense Forces' existing communications systems. As a result, the crypto-modem is a cost-efficient solution to the Defense Forces' new requirements for protection of data communications. Series deliveries of the crypto-modem will begin in spring 2006.
