The hospital in Alingsås, Sweden, has signed an agreement with the IT and medical technology company Sectra regarding the digitization of its radiology operations. The hospital is investing SEK 7.5 million in modernizing its radiology department and the agreement covers Sectra's total solution for management of radiology images (PACS) and administration of patient information (RIS).
The order was placed under Sectra's existing framework agreement with the region of Västra Götaland, Sweden, and the digitization lays the groundwork for extended and simplified cooperation with the region's other radiology departments. Alingsås Hospital already uses Sectra's RIS solution and, when the new total solution is introduced, the hospital's radiology activities will be completely paper- and film-free.
"Since we already work with Sectra's administrative systems, coordinating the two radiology systems will entail several synergies. We perceive efficiency gains throughout the entire hospital, since the new system will enable us to increase our patient flow and reduce patient queues," says Ulla Stjernlöf, the director of Alingsås Hospital.
The new system will be installed in 2005. The introduction of digital image processing will facilitate the work of the radiology department and contribute to more efficient and improved healthcare.
Our goal is to help our customers continue to develop and improve the efficiency of their operations. The digitization of radiology images at Alingsås Hospital is a natural progression of our long-term cooperation with the region's hospitals", says Gösta Tidell, Sales Manager at Sectra Skandinavien AB.
